I have been working at Sogeti

Pros

- good opporunities to start some interesting jobs in subcontractor for Aerospace companies
- medium and short term mission meaning some good opportunities to acquire experience in several fields.

Cons

- low salary
- few opportunities to evolve and improve your position among Sogeti
- bad management policy : distant and more dedicated to improve their bonus than your well being.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to be a little more closer to your employees, and also more honest. Employees can take their responsabilities as well if they are given just causes.
e.g. do not hide behind the crisis to reduce augments while still provinding to all the employees communication in glass paper by mail : this is uncomprehensible. (among all else)

Classic body shop. It's about billing hours and that is all.

    I worked at Sogeti

    Pros

Has the benefits of being associated to Capgemini, so access to various materials is good. Not too much travel is expected which is good.

    Cons

Was employed to drive a certain technical product and ended up being boxed in at a large client 100% of time. No time was given for professional development. Personal time for doctor/dentist/anything was frowned upon. Any internal meetings were held outside of work hours, as to not disrupt the billable hours. Social life within company was zero.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change business model. Body shopping is quick dollars, but unsatisfying for employees. Work life balance is very important, not just bringing in easy dollars.

    I worked at Sogeti

    Pros

    - Access to MSDN lic., if you beg and plead to the right people
    - Sogeti was big on people getting MSDN certs.
    - there was some good managers and sales people, but few and far between

    Cons

    - health insurance sucks
    - had worked at three diffrent office locations and never met anyone who has a firm understanding of the SDLC (software development life cycle)
    - they hire kids straight out of college who have no experience and put them in roles that they are destined to fail at
    - Sogeti highly encourages your to attend after hours events that are usually a total waste of time and just eat into your free time
    - Sogeti Management that I interacted with was totally clueless what was happening at client site
    - there was a manditory 2-3 week "Sogeti shutdown" in the Dec. 2008. If you had PTO builtup, you HAD to use it, if you did not, you HAD to burn 2009 PTO that you did not even accrue yet. Oh yeah, NO BODY ever told me about this before I was hired, NOBODY
    - profit sharing that was promised in 08 to be paid out in 09 was cancellled
    - the I3 bonus program was a joke
    - Sogeti highly encouraged trying to outsource as much as the work as possible to India, which obviously leaves less for the US employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

focus as much as you do on sales and growth on the SDLC and hiring strong experienced technical people
