Pros

Great entry into managed security services. Smart people who are loyal work here.

Cons

There is limited growth opportunity since the organization is small. Co-workers are great but the management team can be difficult to work with.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is made up of a very small group who have been together for over 20 years. They do not take constructive criticism well and can be emotional. They do not communicate proactively but think they do. I think a senior level person from outside the organization would help some of these issues as would market focus and marketing. People start out really jazzed and burn out quickly with all the drama.

I have been working at Solutionary full-time

    Pros

Solutionary is constantly growing. There is a lot of positive momentum, and it's a great and challenging place to work if you like the fast pace. They promote from within and reward team play. The company still has a start-up feel in many ways and provides so much room for individual growth and ingenuity. Out of the box thinking is encouraged and rewarded. You get to work on a team of like-minded individuals pushing in the same direction to make the company successful. It's really an encouraging environment

    Cons

The biggest con is the fast pace causing rapid shifts in focus day to day. At a high level, the company has several long term strategic objectives it stays focused on, but the rate of its positive progress is slowed down by rapid changes in focus day to day. It is hard to stay focused on any one project long enough at a stint to finish it in a timely manner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let go of the day to day firefighting and allow your middle management tiers to handle it. Continue to communicate and reinforce strategic direction with middle management and truly hold them accountable for showing progress. Reinforce strategic direction every single day, we can't hear it enough.

I have been working at Solutionary full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Solutionary has a vision and drive to be the best in class for its MSS offerings. The drive has been successful and now Solutionary enjoys being part of the Gartner MSSP Leaders Quadrant, which is a great indicator the company is moving in the right direction.

The hiring process is thorough and the company tries to hire best-of-breed, but also balances this with giving opportunities to those who are entering the security industry as well.

There is a lot of opportunity to move between departments and rise through the management ranks if you desire. However, employees must prove their worth, which is a good thing. Who wants to promote someone just because they have been there for x years? Put in the effort and bring great ideas to the table and you will achieve. Also, this is true with any company, not just Solutionary.

Overall, benefit are great, the team is dynamic, and we get to see a lot of great things. Take the opportunity if offered a position.

    Cons

Some may see the fast paced work environment as a con, but this is what helps us close the gap on others in the industry. Innovation and being able to get to market with a quality product sometimes requires moving at a fast pace. Being agile helps keep things fresh and motivating. I do not see this as a "con", but I was grasping for something negative to say and could not come up with anything else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to listen to your employees, this is the secret sauce that continues to make ActiveGuard a great product.
