    I worked at Sony Electronics full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    -Modern clean building in San Diego (Building 1).
    -Able to learn new skills and tools (if you continuously ask), collaborate with people worldwide.

    Cons

    -Cutthroat management, instead of finding solutions to the problem. Middle management can be hostile towards the people doing the brunt of the work.
    -Politics that require so many 'meetings' with ideas and products eventually getting cut.
    -Favoritism, cronyism rampant.
    -It appears that a large portion of the software side of the company are contractors and not full time employees. Why not just pay your employees the benefits and hire them?
    -A feeling that your job can be potentially outsourced at anytime in Japan or China.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Have the departments collaborate together rather then blaming the finger or outright firing for little reason.
    Stop with the propriety formats in all your products.
