I worked at Sopra Group full-time for more than a year


Only pros of the company is good salary to freshers and employees can reach any of the senior employee very easily


Not creative projects
Not so helping employees
Min 8+1 hrs a day (40+5 hrs in week) even if there is little work

    Its time to forget the experience,move on.Not stay more than 2 years if you are a lateral in Testing Group.

    I have been working at Sopra Group


    1.Work life balance some what OK.
    2.Get away with a blunder,you can even get a promotion :)
    3.If you have relative in the management,best place to work as it is a middle level organisation.
    4.Even if the market is volatile they won't fire you for sure.(You should be at least average level
       performer means you come in 75% bracket)
    5.Very good for freshers,child with a silver spoon.
    6.Once you create a good image of yourself,even if you don't do any thing no problem,even a
       genocide is Ok.You will have a good appraisal.
    7.You will not like to stay here more than 1.5-2.0 years


    - Special benefits to fresher,laterals treated as orphans( not like those of brangelina)
    - Keep your professionalism outside,this company and management like personalism and
      ofcourse journalism is a warm welcome (it's a special asset)
    - Politics play a big role,i also learned some tips and tricks
    - Blunders will be neglected,best opportunity always provided to the bad one.Good resources are
       to clean up the mess (you can understand)
    - Appraisals and promotions are always constrained to a fixed group (you know the favorite ones).
    - Onsite forget about it.There are lot of opportunities no doubt,but you will only get a chance if you
       are among the favored ones.Note this it's very difficult to get into this favored group,there are
       some special requirements :
                   - You must be a relative of any member in the management
                   - Acting as a journalist is very important
                   - Forget professionalism,get ready for personalism :)
                   - Always talk to the management about your personal problems,they love it really :)
                   - Do odd jobs like carrying laptops etc,always appreciate them for there knowledge ( Yes
                    there are some Jacks present here not Jack Sparrow,Jack of all Trades)

    -Always have pessimistic attitude,you surely will be noticed and rewarded in a good way.(Good
      performers may be neglected,sorry not maybe it should be will be)
    - Now,if you are an excellent performer always be ready to give your best 100% all the time as this
       is expected from you,small mistakes may lead to havoc in your appraisal, you will get very less
       lifelines.Good performer can make some big mistakes,not much and can have a satisfactory
       appraisal cycle.Average,you are always on margin good or bad appraisal may depend on the
       Journalism and Personalism factors.
                                 I meant to say if you are 8.5/10 and your as per management you are 7.5/10 ,you
       have to do lot of things appraisal will not be good.If your are 3/10 and as per management you
       are 4/10 you may get the best performer awards.

    ***These all points are applicable for the Testing Group,not for Axway or Development Groups******

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    This is for the upper management only means,our delivery manger ,COO etc not for Testing

    Head or Test managers
    -Please do a thorough diagnosis of the Testing group
    -How does every time same resource is sent to onsite (there is no dependency factor

    here,once for a different project then for a completely different project)
    -There is no pre-sales team present in the Testing group,so how will they get new

    business,future looks gloomy.(Yes there are some people working on this who have no prior

    experience of pre-sales)
    -Why is there huge difference in the compensation of a testing and development resource of

    same designation?
    -There is a secrecy maintained about any new projects,communication like these should be

    loud and clear.
    -Do analysis of why the Testing projects did not sustained for too long??
