I worked at Sound Inpatient Physicians

Pros

If they were able to achieve it, the work-life balance would be the best reason to work with them. However, at this time, they are understaffed and physicians are having to work extra shifts and cover extra patients. They do have better educational resources than other hospitalist groups. Your colleagues will be above average in terms of personality, I think simply because they are attracted to a place that purports to offer less stress.

Cons

Compensation is lower than competing hospitalist groups. No vacation is offered.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on the core of your business, which is providing hospitalist physicians with the tools and support to do their job well.

I worked at Sound Inpatient Physicians

    Pros

Making a difference in the lives of the patients and families impacted each day, while working collaboratively with the entire hospitalist and hospital team.

    Cons

Working under the Sound Physician Corporation, who has little insight to the everyday operations of each hospital and how unique they truly are; therefore one model cannot work nationally. Leadership who run the organization from their homes or hotel rooms with little desire to have those on the front line have a voice. Little to no areas of opportunity for growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Success will be "maintained" when you begin to open your eyes and ears to those who are out doing the work for your organization, within the hospitals for which you hold the contracts. Perhaps all the contracts lost to date are due to voices left unheard or partnerships you let drift away? Maybe someday you will return to your roots, instead of focusing on the $$$$; that is when success is achieved in healthcare!
