Pros – If they were able to achieve it, the work-life balance would be the best reason to work with them. However, at this time, they are understaffed and physicians are having to work extra shifts and cover extra patients. They do have better educational resources than other hospitalist groups. Your colleagues will be above average in terms of personality, I think simply because they are attracted to a place that purports to offer less stress.

Cons – Compensation is lower than competing hospitalist groups. No vacation is offered.

Advice to Senior Management – Focus on the core of your business, which is providing hospitalist physicians with the tools and support to do their job well.
