I worked at Sound Transit full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The best part about Sound Transit is how strongly motivated the employees are by the public good. This was ingrained in almost everyone I met there. They all want to do something good for the community through their jobs in transit.

    Cons

Being a cash-strapped public agency, you won't find free drinks/snacks here. Also, a lot of the technology and working experience is a little dated, so younger more innovative minds will have to slow down to allow others to keep up with them.

    I worked at Sound Transit

    Pros

    Interesting work
    Dedicated workforce
Surrounded by many of the best from around the nation/world
    Career advancement opportunities
    Fast-paced
    Good compensation
Positive mission and making a difference for the region's travel and commuters

    Cons

    Relentless pace
Internal silos and squabbles keep things less efficient and effective
Sometimes management keeps obvious secrets and it becomes apparent they don't trust their staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't allow the silos.
Don't reward those who don't act in alignment with the mission and leadership direction.
    Hold people accountable.
