I worked at South Hills School full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The vast majority of the faculty are very good at what they do and generally are a pleasure to work with. Opportunities exist to truly help some of the students turn their lives around or at least help them significantly on their career path. The ratio of work required to compensation provided is probably better than most "for profit" post secondary schools.

    Cons

Too many to list. The school's driving forces are revenue generation, cost cutting, and maximizing profit. Primary goals are all business related and educational goals are de-prioritized. This stems from a management that possesses no formal education or training in the field of higher education. The incompetence of management leads to employee relations that should not exist at any organization. The pay is low but probably in line with what the business can afford.

    Advice to Management

To the school's owners: Remove all management personnel and replace them with qualified individuals. Someone in charge should have a doctoral level degree in education. A master's degree should be required for all other management positions including branch campus directors.
