Pros

Stable work environment (the utility is not moving out of state anytime soon) with good pay levels compared to similar work situations. Good benefits package, including a no-longer-common pension. Lots of opportunities for skill development and movement within the company.

Cons

There is too much emphasis on meeting meaningless and far from 'SMART' goals. A pervasive entitlement mentality of many employees undermines the morale of many business units. Widespread nepotism and favoritism are destructive and discouraging to those people who actually want to work. Way too much time is spent on monitoring employee performance.

Advice to Management

Make it easier to move or get rid of employees that are no longer able to do their jobs adequately. Their continued presence brings down morale and causes good employees to leave. Don't let Human Resources run the company!

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The benefits are good and job security is high because they seem to keep people forever -- regardless of talent

    Cons

There is a general culture of mediocrity and unprofessional management. The work itself is kind of boring

    Advice to Management

    More leaders, less figureheads

    Pros

EXCELLENT LITIGATION ATTORNEYS ON THE WHOLE, VERY COMPETENT PARALEGALS AND SUPPORT STAFF OPPORTUNITY TO GO AS FAR AS YOU WANT WITH IMPORTANT ASSIGNMENTS IF YOU ARE WILLING TO WORK HARD AND PROVE YOURSELF EXCELLENT COMPENSATION & BENEFITS ON THE WHOLE, GOOD PEOPLE TO WORK WITH

    Cons

REGULATORY ATTORNEYS TEND TO BE ARROGANT AND DISMISSIVE/LAZY, LAZY, LAZY! SMALL POCKETS OF INCREDIBLE INCOMPETENCE WITHIN THE GREATER LEGAL DEPARTMENT SOME EMPLOYEES ARE SO OVER MANAGED THAT THEY HAVE LOST THE ABILITY TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES FACE IT/LAW DEPARTMENTS/LAW FIRMS ALL HAVE A CAST SYSTEM/OFTEN VERY UNFAIR TO ADMINISTRATIVE STAFFERS ABSURD SICK TIME RULES IMPOSED WITHIN THE LAW DEPARTMENT/ENFORCED ONLY ON THE NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEES/AND ENFORCED NO WHERE ELSE IN THE COMPANY

    Advice to Management

    1. LEARN TO THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX, ANY BOX. 2. THERE IS FAR TOO MUCH FORM OVER SUBSTANCE. 3. WHEN A RULE GOES INTO PLACE, SOMEONE, ANYONE NEEDS TO EXPLAIN THE WHY!
