Pros

Great work-life balance. SCE pays well as far as a base salary goes and provides a great learning opportunity for those wanting to get into the energy business. You learn about nuclear, coal, natural gas, power, emissions, renewable power and you get to work on high profile projects straight out of school. SCE has great benefits too. You get a broad exposure to trading, contracts, law, planning, and finance. SCE also provides cross training opportunities and a great analyst rotation program. You get to work with many knowledgeable poeple who have been in the biz a long time and have much to share.

Cons

No proportional bonuses, considering certain groups do deals valued at tens of millions of dollars. Aging workforce. This is a good and bad thing. The near retirement folks may be hard to work with, but since they are retiring, they are opening up spots for talented people to take.

Advice to Senior Management

To attract and keep talent, pay needs to be competative with other energy professionals.
