Pros

Its a paying job and with the unemployment rate as high as is people just appreciate getting a paycheck. The people are pretty cool when management isn't around breaking up the conversation.

Cons

There is no money to be spent on educational resources that are not required by regulation. If it isn't completely necesary then we would go without. Everything depends on the bottom line. That is all that matters to the owners. The only days off are the 7 major holidays during each year. Expect to get fired before the holidays because they are to cheap to pay you. They will come into you offices and tell you, "that you can pack up your belongings and leave. Your services are no longer needed. Oh, and by the way, thanks for your hard work." They could care less about you. Never mind the fact that they are exploiting the poor by enrolling students who could never pass a test at a regular college. That's not even mentioning our tax money that they take from the students financial aid after they pay $38,000 for a 18 month degree program. Expect to hear "just be glad you are still working here" when you ask for a raise.

Advice to Management

Stop exploiting the poor, your employees and the rest of the tax payers in this country.

    Pros

I have met some of the most dedicated faculty I have ever had the pleasure of working with at this organization. Health insurance coverage is the most comprehensive I've had in years. Decent work-life balance; no emails received on weekends, no projects extended into non-working hours. Students who are serious about their future and education make the job very rewarding.

    Cons

Employees are expected to wear many hats. If you are good at your job, you will take on quite a bit of responsibility.

    Advice to Management

Provide incentives for valued, high performing, employees. Show the people who make you look good that they matter, too. Open the lines of communication.

    Pros

The college does serve a portion of society that needs training in a trade. Many of the students that attend STC would not go far in a traditional school.

    Cons

As a "for profit" school, it is guided in that direction. No review or raise structure was in place. the school expects many situation of work without pay. This is including but not limited to, participating in graduation ceremony, training, attending book fairs, creating tests, lesson plans, reading potential new books, open house (promotion) among other items. Promised raises are held back. Faculty and staff go without any ay adjustment for as long as 8 years. They often remind you of where the door is located if you do not like the situation. Often is heard that the investment group is not happy with their return on investment (ROI). The cost of the school over 38K for an AAS degree is a large burden for students. High pressure sales tactics. "Career Counselors" are under extreme pressure to admit students. Students that have not graduated high school have been admitted to the school. Faculty split shift with four hour afternoon break (unpaid) between sessions.

    Advice to Management

Treat faculty, staff and STUDENTS with more understanding and respect. Be as concerned with staff and faculty drop rate as much as the student rate.
