Pros

Fabulous staff. Hard working and willing to help each other.

Cons

Management and administration are mostly clueless. Positive changes take forever, stupid ideas by admins are started the next day.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management does a really good job of behaving as if they're listening to the people who work for them. Unfortunately, while they listen, nothing changes.

I have been working at Southwest Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

This is first and foremost a for profit company, not a community hospital system, so this is a money making business. Not that corners are cut, but many decisions are made at the corporate level, at least that's the line employees are told when cuts are made to budgets and lower level employees are let go. Very top heavy management. And high turnover at the CEO, CNO, COO level, perhaps using these two facilities as training for other, larger ones? Wildomar facility is trauma center, Murrieta is OB/Women's , Murrieta is in dire need of a facelift, but it has been delayed for years with multiple plans discussed. Employees are great, very caring and motivated, work well between departments.

    Cons

Some doctors are having difficulty with dealing with converting to CPOE, others with allowing intensivists, staff sometimes caught in the middle. New policies come out requiring doctors to do certain things, then when they don't do them it eventually falls on the nurses. I've also seen snap decisions where people were fired suddenly, then rehired suddenly, which is nerve wracking. It really causes an atmosphere of anxiety.
