Pros

Great benefits, try to boost morale

Cons

current RD has little to zero knowledge, to militant in management, asks for middle management input but does not listen.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not great on pay; promised to come in and clean up what the last couple of contractors did not do well. Still promising. Still broken. Instill loyalty by doing what you say and keep the most knowledgeable. Make sure the person at the top (locally) knows how sort and respond to emails and properly use their technology to meet deadlines. heard from a former co-worker that they had just received a response to an email sent to the RD in April and it was August. the response was too late. I seriously see the current contractor being exited soon and that is really sad. Some very talented people still work there and they are not valued. I do not believe the contract manager is hard to please; she just expects talented people to do work.that reflects a job well done every time not sporadically or when there is a deadline.
I would not recommend employment locally but would in other Southwest Key areas.

    Pros

Enjoyed my job and working with co-workers

    Cons

Terrible management. Despite numerous complaints from staff about local management, nothing was done!!! Low pay!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate management needs to make unannounced visits and listen to what staff has to say when you visit. Don't ignore staff complaints and don't protect bad program directors. Staff is the heart beat of the program, they do all of the hard work!!

I have been working at Southwest Key Programs full-time

    Pros

This company really does do a lot to help the community. Some of the positions are very well funded, particularly if you are related to someone higher up.

    Cons

They expect their teachers to work 60+ hours a week and then gripe at them for not working enough. They alter their student to teacher ratio by including "tutors" as their staff. They are running a "college prep academy," yet few students both to do homework. They pay for frivolous and unnecessary things and let a lot of enrichment fall to the wayside. Overwork their staff to the bone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire your upper management and start over.
