Enthusiastic, smart people, but hourly billing results in sub-standard quality.

    Pros

People really care for each other, and company does a good job of promoting corporate culture with regular gatherings, a weekly all-staff meeting, and a well-stocked kitchen. Client list is usually pretty exciting with new technology companies and VC-client startups. Network of freelancers allows them to bring in specialists as needed.

    Cons

Company focus on all hourly billing instead of retainer accounts makes the last week of each month a stressful time as accounts are often over or under budget. Quality work and attention to detail suffer due to the number of accounts people have and priorities from management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start by spell-checking every email that goes out, followed by all-staff education in AP Style. Make the effort to take care of long-time clients and be a core part of their business, not just a replaceable vendor.

    Pros

Great opportunities to work with big brands in tech, fun people to hang out with, concentrates on culture at work

    Cons

Work / life balance is lacking for some while others get by with slacking off for years. Although it's great that Spark creates a good culture at work, it doesn't put much effort into making sure employees aren't burnt out/have a life outside of work. That's when they tend to lose people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let some staffers drown in work for months while others are barely doing the minimum to get by.
