I have been working at Specialized Bicycle

    Pros

If you are passionate about bicycles, then this is the place for you. A lot of the employees are young and passionate about sports and biking, and if you already do mountain or road biking, the employees would always go out to bike together during lunch. The company atmosphere is young and energetic, and depending on which department, the workload differs.

    Cons

Apart from being a bike developer and engineer, there is not too much room for growth for other positions. Most of the departments other than bike design and manufacturing does not play huge roles in the development of the company, and if you are seeking a huge career in your related field other than bicycle development, then you should look elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open about employee mistakes; don't just fire people out of the blue.

I have been working at Specialized Bicycle

    Pros

It's a casual, laid-back, fun place to be. Bicycling is actively supported and is a vital part of most employees' lives. Many employees race on the weekends or indulge in some mountain biking in the area, where it is said to be the best mountain biking in the world. At lunchtime, most employees leave the building to go for a bike ride, a run, a walk, or just to get some fresh air. Being active is supported by everyone. In addition, the company strives to "go green" by getting a green architectural makeover for the building, as well as brewing fair trade coffee, buying biodegradable flatware, and serving organic snacks.

    Cons

Low pay. Unfortunately, the benefits that come with working at Specialized (the lunch ride, casual environment, discounts on bikes and equipment, etc) are supposed to make up for low pay. For some people this is cool, but to others...well, it doesn't pay the bills. And I hear that HR can be ageist, as in they only want young people. In addition, unless you are paid hourly, work beyond the regular 8 to 5 is expected but not paid for. I take work home every night.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognition (i.e. PAY) begets harder work. An employee who feels valued and appreciated will work harder and be happier.
