I have been working at Spirent Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Could be a great environment depending on your manager & team Casual atmosphere Flexible schedule Training or resources for improving skillset are available if you ask for them Opportunities to work on more challenging projects if you can make the business case for them

    Cons

Compensation & benefits are on the low end of tech jobs in Silicon Valley Internal politics & big egos Old school way of thinking & executing solutions Undefined career ladder - you will need to be able to negotiate and advocate for yourself. This might be true of most companies, however. Too many silos

    Advice to Management

Leave your ego at the door. Be a leader, not a "boss" Stop using antiquated metrics Use a more rigorous process for vetting candidates. Bad hires can cost a lot of time, money & resources and worst of all, lower employee morale.
