Pros

You have chances to get a little extra money every now and then. A few of the General Managers really know how to motivate you and help you work with your strengths.

Cons

Some of the General Managers aren't the best people you want to be around. They can make you hate work and yourself sometimes with just one look.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not everyone's the same. If you feel like something should be easy to do, that's because it works to your strengths. Your job is to try and help other employees succeed and from that make the company better.

    Pros

    Meeting lots of people interested in similar activities, getting to attend interesting events.

    Cons

    The current sales culture at Sport Chalet is all about pushing Visa cards on people, and getting extended service plans. Given their current return policy, a customer is just throwing money away on the extended service plans. They will take anything back, no time limit. So there's absolutely no need for the ESP.
        Your performance is currently based pretty much solely on how well you do on forcing these things on customers. They don't give raises, the attitude seems to be "be grateful you have a job in the current economy". They tout themselves as "the experts", but there is little to no training for employees. Management is at best ineffectual.
       At my store over the last few years, many of the most able employees were lost due to the low pay and hopeless outlook for any kind of real advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest in your people, not these ridiculous "measureables". Better trained and compensated employees would improve sales in your stores. Treat people with respect and don't rely on fear to motivate your workers.
