I worked at Sport Chalet part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

- Purchasing perks for vendors, i.e. snowboards, lift tickets, clothing, etc. - Fairly little work is necessary

Cons

- Management does not care about you, I know several people from different stores and it is the same throughout all. - Lunch breaks are 30 minutes, even if you are working a 10 hour shift. - If manager's do not like you, they will restrict your hours until you quit. - They push for you to make credit card sales, yet there is no incentive for doing so. - Managers treat you like another minion - Closing shift is the worst of any company I've ever seen. If store closes at 9 PM, you are lucky to be out of the store by 10:30.

Advice to Management

- Extend lunch breaks - Do a better job of hiring - Make an incentive for credit card sales, otherwise nobody cares. - Closing is an absolute joke. Get it together.

Fun customers, Good employees that want to assist customers, most of the time. Challenges experts in selling to hone skills that can be easily transfers to other sales positions at other companies.

    Cons

Need a mix of adults to young adults. Balancing the two is tough some times. Need the maturity in store but also the enthusiasm of youth.

    Advice to Management

It all starts at the top. In store management is the key to successful stores. Gm 's must teach as well as supervise.

    Pros

Empowers all employees to take care of customers 100% of the time. Good quality products to sell. Apparel is always new and in line with current trends.

    Cons

Pay scale in store management level is not commensurate to the cost of living in 2013 and forward.

    Advice to Management

Operational processes needs to be revisited and updated. You have to adopt a better and more efficient distribution and movements of products.
