Sprint Nextel – “I would not recommend Sprint as a place to work”

The people. I loved many of my coworkers and would work with them again in an instant....at a different company. I also think their coverage is better than AT&T, which makes you proud as an RF Engineer.
Cons
I worked at Sprint for many years and after the first 3, we were always living in fear of being layed off or re-badged. After the lay offs would happen, then you'd have to pick up even more slack for all your missing coworkers. It got to the point where you didn't even care about getting anything done because there were too many work requests that you could never finish. When they implemented an email policy that would delete messages in your inbox after 30 days, I came to love that policy because it meant that if I had a request from 30 days ago an no one had followed up on it, it fell off my To Do list. Promotions were always promised, but rarely given. Raises were meek and benefits were occasionally stripped away (401k match, tuition reimbursement). Everyone knows Sprint has horrible customer service, and it's hard to vouch for a company when you too receive horrible customer service when you are forced to interact with them....even when you are directed to Employee Accounts. It was laughable. I'm so glad I left.
Advice to Senior Management
Honestly, I don't know what can be done. I have heard that in the last few years management has improved, but it's hard to imagine at such a large company that continuously changes focus and direction. They have been touting their intent to improve customer service since about 2002. I finally left this year, after 10 years as a hopeful customer.
