A good job to pay the bills, but not worth it long-term.

I worked at Sprouts Farmers Market full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Lots of good, natural foods and products at fair prices. For the most part other employees were easy to get along with, not a lot of bad hires. Employee discount of 15% was helpful. If you do your job and do it well you will likely see a raise or promotion fairly quickly.

Cons

Corporate was clearly ignorant to how the stores ran. Lots of poor decisions came down from a corporate level that made employees jobs harder. It was clear that this company and the owners are all about the bottom dollar and how much money they can make, with little or no regard to how they treat their employees. Lots of bad upper management at the store level, managers changed too often.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention and listen to what your employees ask for and say they need in order to make their jobs easier - we do know a thing or two! Don't cut employee hours unnecessarily, we do need to pay our bills and when there is work to be done let us work. Learn how to communicate properly on all levels.

Deceptive hiring practices especially for new stores.

I worked at Sprouts Farmers Market part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It was wonderful to help customers find healthy products and it was great to work with like minded team members "Sprouties". The store is kept clean and fresh and the overall environment is good . Sandwiches for lunch break are the best.

    Cons

For new stores, initially they hire too many and then force employees to quit. It appears that lower management is told to find ways to make employees miserable so they will quit when they no longer need as many employees,

They mess with scheduling right from the start. Everyone was scheduled for 30+ hrs weekly even those who were hired to work only 10-15 hrs weekly. Then it changes to only 6-15 hrs weekly even for those told at hire they would be scheduled for over 30 hrs each week. If that does not qet you to quit they start changing the schedule on short notice without telling anyone. Then they write you up for not showing at the right time. It became a games of calling just before shirt and hope you did not miss and they would not allow copies of the schedule! When that is not enough they started with the daily product inventory and facing assignments. They set you up to fail by assigning more than is possible to finish in the shift time and again write you up.

There is more but this is enought to tell. Too bad they (management) can not just be honest and let the employees know the job will be limited and after about 6 months they will expect to let several people go...Then people can plan and appreciate the time the spend working there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell the TRUTH and lay employees off with dignity instead of setting them up for failure, often breaking their self esteme and generally making their time miserable to force them to quit. Just accept the ding on the Unemployment record and treat people the way you would want to be treated.

AND PS: the quality of produce is drastically inferior to Henry's Market who you copied and then took over.
