Company has changed a lot in the past year. Not in a good way. Is getting to be less great to work here..

I have been working at SquareTrade full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Has good product; has really shown warranties can be a smart thing for folks to buy.
Nice new facility. Very open
They feed us alot and pretty often

Cons

-Culture and work environment is really changing over the past year or so. Not in a good way
-Growing so fast - concerned that the focus is all about how numbers look versus 18months ago where it was delivering the very best service on electronics.
-The new executives they are bringing in combined with the change to Bain are all focused on going public. This is changing lots of the things that we so great about ST in the past

Advice to ManagementAdvice

CEO & COO need to get more involved, like they use to be, in the details of what is behind the slidesware they are being shown. A lot of talk about culture and values and an award every now and then... But are the decisions you guys making really based on these values?

    I have been working at SquareTrade full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Employees are really pleasant but not smart and they are Dumb . I mean not smart at all and middle managers behave like circus ring masters.

    Cons

    They are 100 yrs technically behind in technology. The company pays below average salary. This company has really dumb people. This company was started in 1999 and were stuck at 15million revenue till 2009?? After that they started selling warranties from 2009 they started generating revenue. They say that the company is doing good etc and promise you X number of stock options while joining saying they value Y amount but after few days when you do the paper work for these you will be shocked at what price they are offering and they are peanuts and you feel you are cheated. The middle managers are very dumb, unprofessional and revenge taking. Please dont work here for your own safety and good. Dont get fooled by some good ratings by others, they are call center folks and call center department is good and hence they might be happy for what they are getting. But if you a software guy Dont...its not worth it.

    In short this company has a Master -slave-sly/favorite slave culture.

    Dont be partial, biased and please act professionally and dont expect that employees are slaves.

    I worked at SquareTrade full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great co-workers, good people trying to do a good job, unfortunately are set up for failure.

    Cons

    Horrible bosses that penalize you for taking time off even if you are sick. If your child is sick and you have to leave early be prepared to have an "incident" put in your file. 3 "incidents" and you are fired. No sick time unless you give 48 hours notice? How would you know if you're going to be sick in 2 days? Company culture has gone completely in the toilet, no linger is this place about working with great people and providing great service its only about the numbers. Its only about productivity. This place has changed from a thriving office into a typical call center. Morale at this company sucks and will continue to go downhill as long as this place treats its employees like children instead of responsible adults.

    I don't recommend this job and I don't approve of the CEO since this is happening under his watch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fire the manager that has put the emphasis on productivity instead of service. Make this place a good place to work that employees look forward to coming in to every day again.
