I have been working at St. Jude Medical full-time for more than a year

Pros

opportunities galore, forward thinking, positive culture, fair compensation, great executive leadership, very aware of life balance. Great products. still small enough so that it does not feel like a mega corp.

Cons

inter divisional politics a challenge, struggling to keep up with growth - basic company services (HR and Benefits) understaffed. Processes and workflow still old school at times

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Converge and align (rinse and repeat)

    Pros

Benefits are not bad yes they good be better and the people at St Jude are wonderful and so caring.

    Cons

Changes to quick without uppermanagement thinking first. Very confusing now with Austin and Plano. It seems like things need to be defined still

Has been good, but at a tipping point now - will either be a great place to work in a year or far below average.

I have been working at St. Jude Medical

    Pros

There are many great managers working here.

    Many smart, capable, friendly coworkers.

Medical devices - a chance to create something to help someone.

Very respected company, with a lot of growth.

Most parts of the benefits package are great.

    Cons

Upper management, at this location, handles anxiety with micromanaging and constant redirection of resources - trying to put out fires.

Little acknowledgement, in practice, of the "Quality, Time, Cost - pick two" concept.

Overburdening procedures (even for a Medical company)

Outdated vacation policy - fewer days than most places.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a direction and communicate that direction to _everyone_.
Trust that your team can complete if you give them direction and don't change the finish line.
Every project can't be "number one priority."
