Pros

My co-workers on my peer level are fun, hard-working, and understanding. They are the reason I enjoy my job.

Cons

The nursing divisions are not consistent in how they implement policies, nor how they schedule nurses. Nursing division with higher acuity patients appear understaffed and have increased "pull" nurses, while lower acuity divisions have ample nursing and nurses aides.

Advice to Management

Middle management in nursing seems disjointed. Please help nurse managers become consistent with policy ... it would greatly improve daily operations. Professional expectations seem to be implemented/enforced either by wimsy or by default. Rules seem to "change" back 'n forth with management unclear on how to implement/enforce change.

    Pros

    It's a loyal institution to it's employees.

    Cons

When there's a nursing shortage, there are perks for nurses. When there is no longer a shortage, the perks dry up & they remove incentives that they had in place.

Nurses are overworked & under paid.

    Advice to Management

Directors of patient service areas need to give more autonomy & empower nurse managers.

  2. St. Luke's Hospital is an interesting place to work.

    Pros

There is alot of interaction between many different departments in passing. No day is the same due to the many different patients and visitors that come to the Hospital.

    Cons

Sometimes the workload can be heavy. Also the starting pay could be increased. Sometimes certain people are not willing to help out when needed.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be much better communication on a professional level. If this can be corrected, St. Luke's would be a great place to work!
