I worked at St. Luke's Hospital (MO) part-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

They treat their employees very well. I know many people that have worked there 30 + years. The benefits and wages are pretty good, certainly competitive. I liked and got along well with my coworkers. Patient care really does come first.

Cons

Not enough room to advance in my field.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the policies the previous management started. Mr. Olson was awesome. Everyone liked and respected him.

I worked at St. Luke's Hospital (MO) full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

My co-workers on the nursing divisions and in my direct department were flexible, understanding and enjoyable to spend my days with as we treated patients.

    Cons

The immediate supervisor is immature, does not do her job, but "allows others to grow", which basically equals, 'we do her job for her'. The middle manager speaks poor English (although she is not from another country) and just giggles when difficult questions are asked and the vice president over this area was indifferent to the ethical dilemmas taking place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The turnover rate in my department is about to raise. Please consider that the immediate manager hires only people that will not ask questions, nor contribute new ideas. Please consider "Iron sharpens iron".
