Pros

Extremely flat culture where your great ideas do have the opportunity to take shape

Massive matrix based organization, reporting lines and roles / responsibilities can be unclear at times.

Advice to Management

Focus on retention of your peers as well and not just the masses

Current Contractor - Software Engineer in Singapore (Singapore)

I have been working at Standard Chartered Bank as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Wont have a lot of pressure. Will see good people (smart people) and might learn something

    Cons

    Might feel verry slow sometimes

    Advice to Management

    Cut some bulk please

  2. Helpful (2)

    Contract Staff

Former Contractor - Contract in Singapore (Singapore)
Former Contractor - Contract in Singapore (Singapore)

I worked at Standard Chartered Bank as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some old staff are kind and some are unfriendly. Contracts can be left secluded at times. A good place to work with good benefits when you are a full timer but not on contracts.

    Cons

Not offered with full salary instead a pay cut. Initially was told on budget constrain yet are able to hire full-timer on full salary. Get squeeze for every penny.

    Advice to Management

Contract staff should be offered with equal salary or market value for fair employment. At least if there is no intention to keep them for long term, it helps them to move on to another job with an even salary. After all that is what SCB boast about Corporate Social Responsibility. It should start from appreciating your short-term staff contribution for long-term reputation.
