Pros

Top University, great weather year round, diverse crowd. Good pay and great benefits. Stanford takes good care of it's employees, lots of free courses and possibilities for advancement. Located in the middle of high tech hub, provides good contact with companies around.

Cons

The place is huge, one can get lost there easily if you don't have clear priority. Lots of management type people with snobby attitude, oh and reach students of course. The salary could be better, espesially taking into account how expensive living in this area is.

Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for employees to mingle and learn what each other is doing. Try to match salary to companies in the area, otherwise people will be always looking for greener grass.

    Pros

Great pay, support and environment for a summer ESL lecturer. The program was amazing, the students were diligent, and it was well structured. Easy to communicate with administrative staff--people cared. The other temporary staff was very experienced and professional.

    Cons

Only that it was a temporary assignment.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

Great place to work but little on-campus career opportunities for non-tenure track staff

    Pros

Bright people and interesting research projects, beautiful walkable campus, a lot of dining and recreation opportunities, 24 vacation days per year starting second year including two weeks of Winter break, separate sick leave, competitive salary considering generous benefits, decent public transportation options including free Caltrain and VTA passes.

    Cons

Despite enormous endowment administration is not willing to invest university money into research infrastructure, waiting for grant funding which has been abysmal in past few years; there are no long term career development opportunities for professional staff on campus other than finding another job elsewhere; few people are interested in team work; parking may be a hassle.

    Advice to Management

Invest more money into development of shared research facilities and do better job to keep the facilities independent so that no faculty get control or preferential treatment.
