I have been working at Stanford University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

BeWell program - employees have monetary incentive to stay fit. Great retirement benefits. HR is very responsive. Free Caltrain Go passes.

    Cons

Bureaucratic, feel like a small fish in a big pond. I work off-campus, so there is a disconnect with the central community. Parking can be a nightmare.

    Advice to Management

I wish there was more community bonding for all Stanford employees, across departments.

  2. Beautiful location, great benefits...Disconnected management, innovation not rewarded

I worked at Stanford University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Beautiful campus - clean, quiet, nice architecture. Very international. Strong student participation. Faculty are very innovative and inspiring. Great benefits. Tuition reimbursement program. Diverse activities offered on campus.

    Cons

Not much cross-training or communication among departments. Deans and Management not on the same page. Management are seen as administrators, not Student Services Professionals. Faculty doesn't collaborate with Management. Funding goes to students, not to employees.

    Advice to Management

Hire professionals who are interested in Education, Student Services and Academic Development, not just people who are good on a computer.
