I have been working at Stanford University full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Near European quality of health and retirement benefits

Great choice of health insurances, from Kaiser to Blue Shield.
Retirement managers TIAA/CREF brought me through the 2008/2009 debacle, but if you want to risk more, they also have Fi9delity

Cons

I did not find anything beyond petty grievances, you can make up about any emp-loyer.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not try to control everything and everybody, including access to the swimming pools.
The TSA mentality has crept up in Stanford.
Disgusting.

    Highly intelligent people. Many resources for students.

    Cons

    Very busy PIs. PhD in biological sciences can be lengthy.
