I have been working at Stanford University full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The work is interesting and challenging, which allows for a lot of room for professional growth and development. People at Stanford tend to be very driven and motivated, which makes for a great work environment. Benefits are also quite competitive.

    Cons

It can be hard to advance, though the argument can be made that it is hard to advance anywhere nowadays and the only way forward is through lateral moves. The culture can sometimes be very siloed, which can dampen morale. Depending on what you do, salary might not be as competitive as what you would get in the industry. But all in all, this can be a great place to start and build a career.
