Current Employee - Basic Life Science Senior Scientist in Stanford, CA

I have been working at Stanford University for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits and nice support for a reasonable work/life balance. As a research scientist I'm given a lot of flexibility with timelines that are longer than the Quarter by Quarter I've experience in industry. Very generous vacation and sick leave policy.

    Cons

Lower compensation than industry and lax attitudes regarding safety. Poor HR support for interpersonal conflicts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better HR support, try to instill a better culture for chemical safety and finally allow the research scientist to apply for RO1 style grants.
