Current Employee - Manager in London, OH

Pros

Stable environment tied to a strong Automotive OEM. Benefits and pay are good at starting to moderate experience levels, but flatten out in management and senior management areas. Work environment provides advancement for competent individuals. Most areas have a strong sense of familial spirit. Mid-management looks out for the associates, and activly supports their needs.

Cons

Company outlook is focused on the immediate financial impact of any activity. Long term objectives are weak and generally not held to throughout their full terms. Objectives tend to be very transient with daily changes in the "top priority" items.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look further to the future and provide clear directives and allow the management team some latitude to achieve those goals.

Able to go no where quickly. More interested in doing things over than doing things correctly.

    Pros

A great place to get your feet wet and get lots of hands on experience. Better benefits than some other local employers such as Wal-mart and McDonald's and other Honda suppliers. Highly paid assembly line workers. Anyone with advanced training will be able to really make an big impact at Stanley Electric quickly.

    Cons

Top management does not seem to understand the cost and time involved it takes to create a fully trained, useful employee. Many of the best people move on to other employers very quickly after gaining most of their training and becoming useful. Only interested in competing with other London employers for top talent. Does not recognize the ability of excellent employees to relocate from London area. The company processes and procedures are not innovative nor does it seem that innovation is encouraged or appreciated. The management production and problem solving direction seems to be spending a lot of time doing the same things over and over while expecting different results. Profitability is now more realized through cost cutting and benefit reduction. Egalitarian (socialistic) pay scale and management policy. Line workers easily are able to make more than engineering staff annually. Top management seems afraid to make the tough decisions. Pay raises are small to non-existent plant-wide. Full of legacy employees at top level positions gained through time rather than skill or ability. This is caused by high turnover of key staff level and key hourly positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize and acknowledge your good people who are able to add value through pay raises and titles. Evaluate and re-train those legacy employees who do not add the value expected of them. Remove them if they can not be re-trained. Cut the assembly line hourly top rate by $5 per hour for new employees. Increase the process, maintenance, molding tech, etc. hourly rate by $5 to $10 per hour.

    Cons

Can be very boring and repetitive

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more flexible with individual associate issues rather than relying on precedent or fear of making new precedent
