Pros

The best thing about this place is the quarry park location in south calgary, at least i dont need to drive dt

Cons

Unfriendly co-workers (cimarron), no standards, drafting department is run by an idiot, i could go on and on. This place turns my stomach

Advice to Management

Do as urprise audit on the quarry park office and watch peolpes eyes glaze over.

    It's a company with very good culture. Centered to develop local communities.

    Pros

    Stantec's work policy is fairly flexible. They have the framework set up to work from home, and hours are flexible to accommodate people's lifestyle. Internal training programs allow for employees to direct their own career path if they want to become more technical or business or human resource oriented.

    Relatively young management base gives some confidence that an ambitious junior employee can climb the corporate ladder quickly.

    Cons

    The young management base also means that they are often inexperienced. Especially when it comes to project managers. While their technical abilities are often great, many engineers and scientists who are PMs lack the subtle leadership skills to effectively lead motivate the team.

    Advice to Management

    Upper management should scrutinize the project management potential of candidates more. Not everyone is fit to lead people. Leadership training can only go so far, as many who are in Stantec's leadership program simply fill the chair, while they are not mentally open to the ideals that are taught.
