I have been working at Staples full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If your lucky to get a manager who cares about the store and employees this could be the list...
    -Inspired learning
    -Great pay
    -Desire to work
-Great reputation for workplace and shopping experience
    -EASY shopping experience
-Good communication between employees and customers
    -Better Incentives
    -Respectful managers & co-workers
    -Less micromanagement
    -Every day is "Blue"

    Cons

In reality this is what we unfortunately are facing daily....
-Terrible pay (even at level 2 &3 )
    -Disrespectful & UN-intelligent managers & co-workers
-Constantly shoving V.I.B.E down employees throats
-Rebates/Surverys/Rewards are difficult for both employees and customers
-Constantly cutting hrs if your not selling PRP'S, FPP'S TSP'S right and left
-Lack of training from managers and district managers
    -Endless conference calls
-Endless list of negative/put down emails about ESP, ET, CSATS, etc...
-VHS training videos are a joke due to the constant changing rules and expectations of Staples

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporate - Keep V.I.B.E simple. Stop adding so many categories to set employees up for failure. Stand behind the products and service plans you make store employees sell and "Make It Easy". DM'S - Hire better management teams... quit hiring incompetent managers from failing competitor stores! Managers- Since you obviously love the endless conference calls, negative emails & two-faced store visits ( saying nice comments to your face and then receiving a 2 page list email of all the things you missed or did wrong).. take the time to see the employees you are hiring. All this frustration can be stopped if Staples takes the time to honestly pay for Good Employees so that V.I.B.E can truly succeed.

    Current Employee - EasyTech Associate
    Current Employee - EasyTech Associate

I have been working at Staples part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

-You learn a lot about computers
-Co-workers are okay but it varies on location

    Cons

-Constant changes in schedule. They would call you and say you are supposed to be here at this time lets just say 3PM when your schedule you have a photocopy of says you are off or you come in at 5PM and they get mad.
-YOU HAVE TO PHOTOCOPY YOUR SCHEDULE! Managers change it so much that if they pull what I said above keep it with you all week to get out of trouble
-I was only getting 10 hours a week because of cutbacks
-Obsessed with numbers, you are a number mill if you don't sell you get out
    -Very little room for advancement
-Pay sucks I have an associates and got only 7.35 an hour to fix computers
-If you are a tech you never work on computers generally you are the only one there and you wont get anything done because the manager wants you to do floor work you didn't sign up for and then your tech manager gets mad and chews you out for not getting tech work done.
-Way to many "come to Jesus" meetings.
-You are not allowed to do outside tech work what so ever. They want to control what you do in store and out of the store. If you are caught you're fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get better organized, treat your associates better, better wages, more hours, and be fair.
