It is a revolving door for manual labor. Logical contributions need not apply.

I have been working at Staples full-time (more than an year)

Pros

The benefits package is reasonable. Some of the crew can actually train properly. Payout every week is nice.

Cons

Inconsistent management direction and illogical focus on "performance (wrong)" metrics

I have been working at Staples part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

All the associates are friendly. Ir's like I just joined another slightly dysfunctional family.

    Cons

I've had no problems so far.

I have been working at Staples part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Building work history. Developing people skills.

    Cons

Terrible pay. Expect to make anywhere from $8-10 an hour. Pay not evenly remotely commensurate with experience or skill set. Glorified used car salesmen. Your primary job responsibility is to sell ESP (Extended Service Plans), and Attachments. Retail environment with very little experience gained from fixing computers. If you're attempting to learn anything by working with Staples EasyTech forget it. Everything I've learned about computers has been self taught, if you're working with computers at Staples that means you're plugging in USB flash drive diagnostic software or running a virus scan / updating windows. There is really no experience gained from troubleshooting computers as the software and diagnostic systems do all the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I understand that Staples is a retail store, but encourage employees to succeed by positive reinforcement and lead by example.
