I have been working at Staples part-time

Pros

Great team environment, with great flexible hours. Be prepared to sell, and talk to people. If you cant do that, then you wont last.

Cons

None really, the sales environment can get competitive, and demanding, but over all its not bad. The training for some things does lack a bit, but over all most is self explanatory.

I have been working at Staples full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The Staples Leadership Team is forward thinking and is continually looking for and, in some cases, creating opportunities to expand and improve the business seeking to remain relevant in an ever changing environment. There are tremendously talented people working in the Staples IT department and many of them are willing to share their knowledge creating learning opportunities for those interested enough to take the time and effort to learn from their colleagues.

    Cons

Compensation benefits above and beyond one's base salary need improvement and medical benefits are costly with incentives given only after intrusive personal information is provided. While there are some good IT Managers that have vision and promote technological advancement while supporting their staff they are outnumbered by inept managers lacking vision, imagination, or the necessary people and technical management skills to be effective. Additionally, promotions are subject to a "good 'ol boy" network methodology that lead to unequal advancement and compensation and create “black ball” lists blocking advancement.

    Pros

Easy work. Good pay. Work with some nice people.

    Cons

Management has its picks. Some work harder than others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train people. Don't set them up for failure and maybe we might know our co workers more than a month.
