Pros

Staples is a huge corporation is run by upper management to appease stock holders. It is a financially sound company.

Cons

They will seek to destroy anyone who poses a threat. In addition I have heard openly racial comments and complete disregard for the people who work for the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are losing good employees due to your churn and burn mentality. This is not a good business practice and will eventually lead to your demise.

    I have been working at Staples

    Pros

    -Flexible hours and great benefits if you can get them.
    -Managers are very good about working around my college schedule and giving days off when requested.
    -Fellow employees are always friendly and non-confrontational. This includes managers.

    Cons

    -Very low wages which do not change based on experience or education.
    -Managers keep all employees temporary and part time if possible to reduce costs. Cannot get more than 25 hours weekly.
    -No immediate employee discounts or benefits.
    -High stress working environment.
    -Benefits and praise only granted for those who up-sell and improve measured sales. Satisfying customers, working hard, and completing tasks thoroughly and efficiently does not warrant praise.
    -AC is turned nearly off in the summer to save money (northern states).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management should pay more attention to customer satisfaction than to meeting sales quotas. Up-selling seems to aggravate customers and drive them away.

    Pros

    Back in the day, it was a fun dynamic environment that valued technical people. After a lot of change, I'm not sure how much of this is left.

    Cons

    There's lots of ambiguity about the future...
