Staples – “Staples is a good place to work but unless you go corporate, don't make career of it.

Staples Floor Salesman:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

Well right before I got there, they had commission based sales so that was a real good reason. However I did learn a lot about sales tactics and such but without being overly pushy. It is a chill job but at the same time they don't take any mess. Employee theft and tardiness is not tolerated and that is a good thing. Holds everyone to same standard.

Cons

The commission thing would have been nice to keep around. Especially considering they put so much pressure on you to sell protection plans. Those PPlans are so much profit and you as the employee don't see an extra dime. After a while its easy to feel used.

Advice to Senior Management

Bring back the commission or make it more worth it for people to sell so much. Staples is a good, profitable company and the workers should be rewarded for it.
