I have been working at Starbucks

Pros

Benefits, people, workers, atmosphere are the best aspect when working for this great coffee company. The free employee drinks are nice.

Cons

Little flexibility in schedule and training. Customers can be quite rude and the increase in pay is usually less than hoped for

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep hiring within. When hiring managers with no Starbucks experience they are less likely to stay and also instill a positive working environment.

I have been working at Starbucks

    Pros

Confidence by the company to lead your store. Realistic goals. Company Support. Make your own schedule, minimal supervision, average pay.

    Cons

Barista's pay not competitive, high turnover. Frequent Changes in upper management, some don't know Starbucks culture. Store Manager is a barista, supervisor and assistant all in one in addition to own duties.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More Non-Coverage for Store Managers. Our priority should be customer focus and partner training not controlling shift complement and doing 10 minute slides.

    I worked at Starbucks

    Pros

Starbucks offered GREAT benefits, from tuition reimbursement, accumulated paid time off, discounted health insurance and much more. You meet interesting co-workers and customers. It is a fun job for highcschool and college.

    Cons

It can be stressful. As any other retail/service companies, holidays are the busiest time of the year, so it is not so easy to take time off to travel away for the holidays.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication of changes in new products, drinks, and other promotional offers should be handled more effectively. Many times employees have no clue of promotions until the customer informs us.
