I worked at Starbucks part-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great people, great customers, free coffee!

Cons

My store needed me to work 25+ hours per week, and that was too much with school at the time.

Former Employee - Barista in Gardena, CA

I worked at Starbucks part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits offered such as direct deposit as well as employee discount (30%). The employee is able to juggle and execute tasks as they are requested with practice. Other baristas will always help when needed.

    Cons

It is a very busy environment and some people may become disrespectful. As the barista you must always be aware of the different ingredient in each drink and be aware that you are well stocked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always act one step ahead. Never wait to be told what to do.

Current Employee - Starbucks-Barista in Florence, SC

I have been working at Starbucks full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, the benefits are wonderful. Health/Dental/Vision, 401K, Bean Stock. The opportunity to further one's career in Management , if they so desire.

    Cons

There will will always be ups and downs in any company. Have to roll with the punches. Favoritism is never good. Have to keep everything balanced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encompass the "whole" mission...don't just focus on variables. In order to keep the numbers and or increase them...incorporate everything. Sales, Customer focus, Drive thru times, if your store has a drive thru, placement of baristas at peak hours. Listen to your partners--open door policy. If a partner has something to say, it does not necessarily mean that they are 'complaining'. It could be valid and useful information. As the expression, Lead by example.
