I have been working at Starbucks part-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

The benefits are excellent for employees. There is a good sense of job security and a good understanding of the high level of expectations of employees. They encourage employees to grow their understanding and move up in the company.

Cons

There is quite a bit of disconnect between the district level, where many store decisions are made, and the daily work routine of the stores. While you are encouraged to move up in the company, it is very easy for employees to get caught in limbo or strung along after being told about the possibility of a promotion.

Advice to Management

Bridge the gap between each store's individual needs and what the district management believes is needed.

I have been working at Starbucks part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is great with adapting your schedule to fit school, a second job, or family responsibilities. Every six months you get a review and a raise. There are plenty of outside resources provided by Starbucks to help you succeed such as benefits for part time employees, counseling for any employee going through a rough time, cup fund dedicated to partners in need, and even tuition reimbursement for college students.

    Cons

Starbucks is open very early and very late so be ready to work at 4am and as late as 1am. Starbucks is also open on holidays (Christmas is the only holiday that is optional to work). Weekends are also required of shift leads.

    Advice to Management

Many times Starbucks hires new store managers with no prior Starbucks experience and it is hard for them to manage when they don't fully understand what is expected of the workers beneath them. In my experience the store managers that have worked their way up form baristas have the best management capabilities.
