Current Employee - Starbucks Barista in Vancouver, BC (Canada)

Pros

You get to connect with customers on a daily basis, and depending on your area and the type of people you get it can be a lot of fun.

Cons

Little pay, little say within the company, no bonuses to speak of.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

More incentives to upsell for all partners. Currently if we help our store do very well financially, the only person who gets a bonus is the manager.

    Pros

Partners at most stores are usually really easy going as well lots of the regular customers are actually really interesting.

    Cons

Insanely repetitive with the job pretty much involving making drinks and then following a cleaning list the rest of the time. Also lots of stuck up business people.

Former Employee - Barista in Vancouver, BC (Canada)

    Pros

Free coffee/tea every week. Decent training on conflict-resolution and customer service.

    Cons

Corporate policy makes hours unfriendly for students. Quality of work experience is highly dependent on the location, where it may become extremely busy or quiet at different times of the day. Managers vary from store to store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tailor policies to each store - the work environment and team dynamic was great for a year or so until policies changed and we were essentially forced to leave.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
