I have been working at Starbucks full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Staff camaraderie, and the local customers are a highlight. If you are bad at interpersonal interactions, this is a good place for you to brush up and sharpen your skills.

Cons

Duties can become rote after awhile. Advancement is really up to your store manager. Expectations are high. If you are sloppy or imprecise this is not a place for you.

I worked at Starbucks full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Receive benefits as long as you work an average of 20 hrs a week. Complimentary pound of coffee, box of VIA, box of K-cups or box of tea every week. Lots of opportunity to move up and/or transfer. Flexible schedule (great for college students!) Tips every week are a nice plus. Company does a lot to demonstrate the values of various cultures and backgrounds, as well as taking the opportunity to give back to the community.

    Cons

Huge expectations from the company in terms of store procedure/cleanliness with limited staffing. Pay rate is ok for a "fast food"/retail job. High product/promotion goals that sometimes can be unrealistic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give positive feedback as well as negative (constructive criticism, not just criticism). People are always quick on reporting the bad things when, as your employees, it would be nice to hear the good things too. I know its hard to have a positive upbeat personality all of the time, but your attitude reflects on your partners. Lead by example!
