Starbucks – “Flexible Schedule with cool coworkers

Starbucks Barista in Santa Rosa, CA:   (Past Employee - 2009)

Pros

They accommodate your scheduling needs really well. Getting a friday night off wasn't always a possibility but I was never scheduled when I had somewhere else to be, like school.
Most people working at Starbucks are college age kids who are really cool to talk with. When you're working with awesome people, it makes dealing with the bad customers easy.

Cons

Some people get really serious about their drink and get really upset if something isn't done perfectly.
Internal communication can sometimes be horrible. You know about new drinks in advance, but sometimes other changes wouldn't be well announced. Like a change to how a drink was made or about how to complete a task.

Advice to Senior Management

Work with the employees more. I can't comment on the senior management too much because it's such a big company. On the local level, I wanted our store manager to communicate with us better.
