I have been working at Starbucks part-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Flexible hours, benefits, tips and good people.

Cons

Upward mobility is not as great as I would have imagined. My particular store had ineffective management.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

With all of the students that come through the lower ranks, you are missing a great opportunity to keep talent within the organization by not reaching out to them before they endeavor into other careers.

    Pros

    Flexible Hours for college students.
    I worked at two stores and they always gave priority to my school schedule.
    Dental and Vision Insurance for Part Time Workers
    Meet a lot of interesting people

    Cons

    Customers can be very rude at times
    People from other stores will frequently call you to cover shifts
    Other cons vary depending on the store you work at

    Keep doing secret shoppers. A great way to get a feel for the store.
