I have been working at Starbucks full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Employee Benefits! 401K, Stock Options, Healthcare and Tuition Reimbursement. Also the opportunity to move up in the company. I started out as a barista and within one year was able to be promoted to shift supervisor.

    Cons

Lack of communication between upper management (regional, district, and store manager) and baristas and supervising staff. Supervisors can be a bit overworked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication is a two way street that involves listening and sharing feedback.

I worked at Starbucks part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great working atmosphere, I had a very enthusiastic manager that made even the 4 am shifts fun. Regular customers are the reason to keep coming to work, though. Everyone enjoys learning new things, whether it's a new fact about coffee or learning each other's 'secret recipes.'

    Cons

Pay is certainly not enough to live off of unless you become a manager, which is a very selective process (understandably). District Managers don't always possess the same knowledge of coffee and each store's local culture as the store managers, which can cause a lot of tension in power. Proper training can often be completely looked over, making it harder to transfer stores if you need to move. The company did not seem to be terribly supportive of people who were trying to pursue their own goals -- unless those goals were specifically related to the Starbucks family. Fund your dreams at your own risk, facing penalty of unemployment.

    No opinion of CEO
