Pros

Strong mission that everyone firmly believes in. Company serves as a true world leader in how to treat employees and stand by values. Genuinely nice people with shared values and love of the business. Benefits shared by all who work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Excellent internal movement and development.

Cons

Strong culture is both a blessing and a curse- it's difficult to get people to do things differently for the sake of growth. Generally poor decision-making due to too much consensus building and risk aversion. Because benefits are offered to so many, the benefit packages aren't really that great compared to other major local employers. Poor infrastructure; e.g, HRIS is in outrageous disarray. Cliquish culture.

Advice to Management

Continue the pursuit of new thinking and approaches.

    Pros

The people you come to meet as partners and as customers is great. You come to learn a great amount of information pertaining to customer service. Starbucks does provide its employees with many benefits including stocks, 401k, health benefits, tuition reimbursement as well as a fairly new program to pay for your education through ASU Online.

    Cons

The base pay is not great. You will start off near minimum wage and will not see a great increase in pay for a long time. After 8 years I have maxed out and will only receive 11.40 hr from now on. A bonus would be nice. At times being short staffed and dealing with over scheduling can result in a lot of work for a single person at a time. Can be very stressful and seems to not be worth it at times.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your partners and encourage them to voice their thoughts and ideas on how to better the workplace. Work with your partners on the floor and not just work on admin and scheduling. A partner that sees his manager working hard will also be encouraged to work hard.

  2. A good job for someone who is very patient, graceful, and doesn't mind being talked down to or yelled at.

    Pros

Free ASU tuition, affordable health benefits, vacation time, flexibility in scheduling, mileage reimbursement, promotion opportunities.

    Cons

Getting yelled at by customers and shifts, constant "coaching" that borderlines harassment , inconsistent hours, early hours, corporate constantly changing standards and prices, customers that ask for impossible beverages.

    Advice to Management

Stop raising prices every 6 months, stop introducing drinks that are basically the same as core menu drinks. Keep up the slight involvement in relevant political topics, and cut the sugar!
