I have been working at Starcom USA

Pros

Great place for someone looking to get industry experience; not a lot of places will hire you right out of school.
Will gain lots of networking experience working with leaders at huge brands and media companies.

Cons

No work /life balance. You will be working about 47 hours weekly on a slow week with no overtime.
Extremely low pay for the hours they want you to work. It tops out at around $11/hourly.
An unholy amount of inner office politics. People who you think you can trust will turn their back on you to those higher up.
Women run the whole show. As a woman myself, I first found this empowering, but in reality it's gossip and behind-your-back cattiness.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

They wouldn't listen anyways and are too busy tending to online shopping while the peons are busy doing Their work.

    I worked at Starcom USA

    Pros

There are multiple opportunities average for promotions and rotations onto other accounts, as there are a wide range of high profile accounts to work on. There is good communication throughout the agency as opposed to other media agencies. Strong focus on the review process. Widely respected agency.

    Cons

Poor middle-level management on certain accounts. Work/life balance not regarded as important by individual teams while HR may try to focus on it. Better team organization and structure needed for some accounts. High turnover which results in higher stress levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of employees to lower turnover rates. Conduct heavier screening of management - not just rely on personal connections. Tougher interviewing process for management levels based on their management expertise in addition to their media expertise. Promotions occur at a very young age and often people are not prepared for management roles and supervising a team. Training should be provided with promotions.
