I have been working at Starr Restaurants

    Pros

It's very exciting to work with the events group. You will get to see some really cool locations.

    Cons

The new executive chef really needs to work on his people skills. He barks orders at people and treats them like they are stupid. The guy can't handle the pressure. Chefs are walking out... It can be difficult to get scheduled for events as they are first come first served via email. If you take one of the jobs in NYC - you have to travel by van with fellow workers and not compensated for the entire travel time. It's a long drive back and forth for an event in NYC from Philly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a new Executive Chef who can remain calm under

I have been working at Starr Restaurants

    Pros

working for a premiere/well known restaurant group, where it's easy to transfer to different restaurants in the city once you're in the company (and NYC, florida, ect) get free staff meals and potentially get to meet some celebrities (or philebrities-one great benefit of working in hospitality is the amount of people you get to meet everyday)...growing restaurant company-if one restaurant were to potentially) shutdown, you'd easily get another job with a new opening

    Cons

working holidays, late nights/weekends, bitchy miserable people-like anywhere you'd get in restaurants...overall you need some thick skin to work in the restaurant buz and need the right type of personality to deal with people (generally speaking)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

overall great personnel and organization-pay the hourly people better, given the level of standard that we serve to customers, is just not enough

    Recommends
