I worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Walt Disney World partner park ticket

Cons

Unrealistic expectations set forth by upper management. Upper management's style of leadership is to motivate by job threats. I have been working in fear of losing my job if I don't meet the unrealistic expectations. Terrible medical benefits! For a high profiting company they could do much better. Hopefully you have a good savings account so you can pay for medical bills if you get sick.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the positive in your director's work ethics. Listen to what they say when they show you that the expectations are unrealistic.

I worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Employee discounts at Starwood brands, Starwood University for managers

    Cons

Bad medical insurance (you have to use your hsa to pay a deductible), if you're over 35 don't work for the W brand. W is a brand that caters to younger employees and young drunken and drugged up guests who party all night.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stand up for your employees and don't allow guests to get away with everything just because they are an SPG member. Several times I was verbally abused and once threatened with violence by guests only to see those same guests return to the hotel and stay again because of their SPG status.
