I worked at State Farm as an intern for less than a year

Pros

Everyone is extremely nice and helpful. There are many aspects to the internship, you're getting a wide range of experience.

Cons

A lot of down time in the AFO. Not always busy.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mostly all are very helpful and go out of their way to give advice.

I have been working at State Farm full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Job security is not an issue
    Competitive salary
Part time jobs offer flexible schedules for students or those with a second job

    Cons

"Getting your foot in the door" is not necessarily going to give you the opportunity to advance
Internal job postings are completely worthless
Big company and easy to get lost in the crowd
    Tuition reimbursement program is poor

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask the people who actually do the job for feedback before you change something. Too often upper management throws a curve ball which makes the job more difficult and makes the issue more difficult for the customer.

I have been working at State Farm

    Pros

Commissions are nice and there is not a monthly cap. Internet leads are also provided to help with your pool. If you work hard (well over 40 hours), there is a good chance of being promoted to the agent pool.

    Cons

There are no benefits and though internet leads are better than no leads, they are basically cold calls. Even though you are making an honest attempt to save your prospective customers money, they rarely give you the chance and usually hang up before you get that far in your spill.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If this specific role doesn't come with benefits, paid vacation days would be a bonus. Also more training is needed around how programs function and what products really are before goals become required.
