I have been working at State Farm full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Stability
    - Lots of opportunity to move around (you can have multiple careers with one company)
    - Diverse
    - Mutual company (not a stock company)
    - Corporate is located in an area with a low cost of living

    Cons

    - Change is slow due to large size
    - Hard to feel like you have true ownership of anything due to size
    - Projects take a long time to implement
    - Corporate location is not ideal but very family friendly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to implement such massive projects - seems primarily due to a continuous increase in scope. Start small, implement early, iterate.

I worked at State Farm full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Work life here is what you make of it. Possible to successfully navigate the enterprise and build networks across product lines. Companywide learning and advancement opportunities for those agile and mobile. Management and peer encouragement to overcome obstacles, internal and external, and get the job done.

    Cons

Seemingly constant structural organizational change and shifts in business segment focus can be a challenge as marketplace demands require perpetual adaptation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to nurture and utilize the talent and institutional memory of your senior employees.
